This tool is developed by wz with the NifLib library.
It is used to create *_.far.nif meshes with reduced number of polygons.

*_far.nif meshes are used by Oblivion to display statics that are flagged as "visible when distant"
in the Construction Set.

GenerateFar is a "DOS" command line tool; you use it in the WinXP "DOS" window.
There are a number of command line options or switches that affects the final result.

GenerateFar.exe <nif_file> <detail> [keep_borders] [merge_meshes] [protect_texture] [protect_vc]

Where the first two relate to the mesh you want to create a *_far-version of & how many polygons to keep
of the original, expressed in a float value from 0.0 to 1.0, where 0.0 is 0% and 1.0 is 100%.

[keep_borders] relate to maintaining the border vertices or not, default is 1.

[merge_meshes] relate to merging all the meshes in the nif into one, default is 1.

[protect_texture] relate to ignoring the texture paths in the nif or not, default is 1.

[protect_vc} relate to keeping vertex colour or not, default is 1.

Below is an example of the command line syntax.

GenerateFar.exe anvillighthouse01.nif 0.4 1 0 1 0

This will result in an anvillighthouse01_far.nif with 40% of the original polygons, border vertices maintained, no meshes merged, vertex colour removed.
